UT Votes Fall 2014 Events

It's  been quite a semester for UT Votes! We've done everything from a deputization meeting, partnered with TurboVote, tabled at UT to register new voters, attended the Harvard Institute of Politics National Campaign Conference, and planned and executed our first ever Parties for the People: Undecided Voter Fair. Needless to say, we've been busy!

See photos and summaries of all our events this semester after the jump!

September 11, 2014 - At our first large meeting, we invited Bruce Elfant to come us for food and deputize UT students! We welcomed 16 new voter deputies that evening.

September was a very busy month - On September 23rd UT Votes celebrated National Voter Registration Day, and on the last weekend of September UT Votes officers Zachary Foust and Ceptember Evans visited Cambridge, MA to attend Harvard's Institute of Politics National Campaign Conference. Along with representatives from 24 colleges and universities from across the nation, Zach and Ceptember engaged with renowned speakers and civic leaders, as well as shared their plans for increasing electoral participation in Austin, Texas.

Early in October, UT Votes partnered with the UT Liberal Arts Council to host a debate between the University Democrats and the College Republicans. We helped with food, signed students up for TurboVote, and brought our trivia wheel to quiz students on their civic knowledge. It was a packed house!

In addition to all our events, UT Votes registered 230 new students while tabling and completed 366 TurboVote registrations.
