How to register to vote

You are eligible to register and vote in Travis County if you are:
  • A citizen of the United States
  • A resident of Travis County
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Not declared mentally incompetent by a court of law
  • Not a convicted felon, or, if convicted you have:
    • -- Fully discharged your sentence, including any term of incarceration, parole, supervision, or completed a period of probation ordered by any court; or,
    • -- Been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disability to vote.
What if I'm registered to vote at home? Can I register in Travis County, too?

  • Yes and no. You can only be registered in one county at a time, but the only thing you need to change your registration is a change of address. **You cannot be simultaneously registered in two counties at once. You'll have to back and forth, which actually pretty easy. Just fill out a new voter registration card each time you want to change counties!
  • You need an address in Travis County in order to vote here! That could be your dorm room, apartment, or house address. It has to be a legitimate address where your voter registration certificate can be mailed to you.

  • Where can I register?

  • UT Votes meetings, tabling on the West Mall, and of our voter registration drives. Honestly, just track an officer down and we can register you. Most of our registration comes from our table on the West Mall.
